STUDY TIPS
Study TipsThese study tips and tricks will help you be successful when you study for your next test or quiz.
1. Take good notes. Remember to use those notes throughout the unit to study. Don't wait until the night before the test to begin reviewing your notes. Do this nightly, so you remember more of the information.
2. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to study. At this stage of development in school, I would say 20-30 minutes is appropriate when studying for a quiz. I would say 45-60 minutes is appropriate for studying for a test. However, every learner is different. You know what works for you (or your child). Help your child get into the habit of studying well now, so next year is a smoother transition.
3. Stay organized - Keep your materials and notes organized so when you sit down to study it isn't a frustrating, unorganized experience. Have a variety of tools available to help you study. Notes, flashcards, your textbook, and pictures/diagrams will help you remember the material when it comes time to test on it.
4. Avoid distractions - Study in a quiet place. Don't sit in front of the television while you're studying your notes. You won't remember anything when it comes time to test.
5. Studying is all about examples and practice. If it's a science or math quiz/test, work out some problems, so you remember how to do it when it comes time to test on the material.
6.Don't procrastinate (or put it off). Study a little bit each night. Don't wait until the night before the test.
7. Get a good night sleep. Make sure you're well rested prior to a test or quiz. You want to make sure all of your hard work pays off. You don't want to snooze your way through your test.
